Founded in 1984 in San Diego, Metabolic Maintenance emerged from a deeply personal journey. Ed Fitzjarrell, raised in a working-class family in Dennison, Texas, found his life's calling in a moment of family crisis. Ed started his own company, with the goal of combining a passion for innovation with his ambition to bring additive-free supplements to patients.

In 1994, Ed relocated Metabolic Maintenance to Sisters, Oregon, in the High Cascades. This move marked a new chapter in the company's story, aligning with its commitment to natural beauty and purity. Sisters became, not only the company's home, but also a symbol of Metabolic Maintenance's dedication to community and environmental stewardship.

MethylPro started as a line of all methylfolate-containing supplements, aimed to support those suffering from MTHFR mutations.

Ed’s daughter, Kelly Fitzjarrell –carrying her father's pioneering spirit and equipped with a Masters Degree in Nutrition from Tufts University– took the helm in 2018. Under her leadership, the company has continued to honor its roots while pushing boundaries in nutritional wellness. Today, Metabolic Maintenance is one of the oldest family-owned companies on the Health Care Practitioner Channel, and has become an industry leader in additive-free supplements, amino acids, and pioneering new approaches to nutrition.
